The Brisbane Heat has officially kicked off the first weekend of summer in style, with players Sam Billings, Spencer Johnson, Nathan McSweeney and Xavier Bartlett enjoying a boat ride down the Brisbane River.

Heat fans and those on their Sunday morning walk around Kangaroo Point stopped to watch the players make a splash in the iconic ‘Brown Snake’ ahead of this Thursday’s Opening Night clash against the Melbourne Stars.

The Brisbane Heat, who are known for entertaining fans both on and off the field, sent a teal jet ski down the river, along with two green and pink speed boats to promote the Opening Night Fixture at the Gabba on 7 December against the Stars and the match against the Sydney Sixers on 1 January for the New Year’s Bash.

English international and the Heat’s Gold pick in the draft, Sam Billings, touched down in Brisbane last week for his second summer with the Heat.

“It’s great to be back with the team and to be back in Brisbane this summer. This city truly comes alive in the summertime. Everyone is out and about and there’s so much happening, I can’t wait to play in front of a home crowd this Thursday night.”

“The Big Bash is all about fun, family entertainment, and the Brisbane Heat put on the best show when it comes to entertaining fans with their light show and fireworks display during the StreetSmarts Innings Break Show.”

“I’m very keen to see Rocketman fly around the Gabba on Thursday. I have never seen him take flight in real life, so I’m glad I can be here to witness his 10-year anniversary flight over the Gabba green. Plus I hear he’s from the UK, so he must be pretty good at what he does!”

The Heat continue to countdown to Opening Night of the BBL|13 season with the team assembling in Brisbane on Monday at the Gabba. Tickets are available through Ticketek.
