England Women U19 will take part in a tri-series in Sri Lanka against the hosts and Australia

The schedule for the forthcoming women’s U19 tri series between England, Australia and hosts Sri Lanka has been confirmed.

Made up of a squad of 15 players, England Women U19s will play a series involving T20 and 50-over games between 28 March, concluding on 9 April 2024.

The matches will be played in MRICS, Hambantota, and GICs, Galle, while each team will play four T20 games and two 50-over games during the contest.

Accumulated points based on match wins will determine the overall winner of the series.

England Women head of performance pathways Richard Bedbrook said: “To be able to build on the inaugural Women’s U19 World Cup back in early 2023 with a follow up U19 tour gives us a significant opportunity to provide further development experiences for a number of players that were involved in that World Cup programme, as well as new players, who have demonstrated high potential through the regional structure.  To be able to provide unique match opportunities in an overseas environment such as Sri Lanka will be a real test for everyone involved, both players and staff, and we expect the challenge of the tour to be high.

“The full preparation player group have all already gained confidence ahead of the season by developing and preparing in a best-v-best environment at the National Cricket Performance Centre at Loughborough through a series of training camps that we hope have complemented the work that the players are all putting in within their regional programmes.

“We now look forward to seeing how players learn and enhance themselves and their games through the opportunity that awaits in Sri Lanka.”
