The Pakistan Cricket Board has reappointed Sami Ul Hasan as Director – Media and Communications, a position he held from 1 March 2019 to 20 July 2023. Sami’s move from the Special Projects department to the Media and Communications department was announced after Aaliya Rasheed announced via X platform that she had resigned.

Aaliya had become the first woman PCB Director of Media and Communications when she took over the charge from Umar Farooq Kalson on 2 October 2023.

Prior to joining the PCB in 2019, Sami was associated with the International Cricket Council (ICC) in Dubai where he worked for 13 years as Head of Media and Communications. During his time with the ICC, Sami was involved in managing and overseeing some major crises including death of Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer during the 2007 World Cup and Monkey-Gate in 2008, as well as media management of three World Cups, four Champions Trophy and six T20 World Cups.

Sami had also worked with the PCB as General Manager – Media from 2002-2004. During this period, he led media operations for India’s first tour of Pakistan in 15 years in 2004 and served as the Pakistan cricket team media manager for the 2003 World Cup and 2003 tour of England.

Sami began his career as a sports journalist with Dawn in 1988 and remained associated with the publication until joining the PCB in 2002.
