1. Job Details:
Position Title: Head Coach – Team India (Senior Men)
Role Based: Mumbai

2. Job Dimensions:

Remuneration: Negotiable and will be commensurated with experience.
Number of Staff Supervised: 14-16
Direct Reports & Total: 14-16
Term: 3.5 years (July 1st, 2024, to Dec 31st, 2027).

3. Role Purpose:
Responsible for coaching Team India (Senior Men)

4. Key Accountabilities:

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a world class Indian cricket team which delivers sustained success in all conditions and formats, inspiring current and future generations of cricketers and stakeholders with their approach to the game.
  • The Head Coach will have overall responsibility for the performance and management of the India Men’s team in all three formats of the game.
  • The Head Coach will lead a team of specialist coaches and support staff and will be responsible for defining their roles, their performance and ongoing development.
  • The Head Coach will be responsible for reviewing, maintaining, and enforcing the disciplinary codes within the Indian Men’s team.

5. Operating Environment:

  • Must be willing to meet work expectations and pressures associated with handling marquee athletes.

  • Broadcasters

  • National Teams

Internal Stakeholders

  • BCCI Office Bearers
  • CEO – BCCI
  • Men’s Senior Selection Committee

7. Decision Making:
High – accountable for Team India (Senior Men) performance.

8. Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

  • Should have played minimum of 30 Test Matches or 50 ODI’s; or
  • Head Coach of a full member Test Playing Nation, for a minimum period of 2 years; or
  • Head Coach of an Associate member /IPL Team or Equivalent International League/First Class Teams/ National A teams, for a minimum period of 3 years; or
  • Should have BCCI Level 3 Certification or equivalent; and
  • Should be below 60 years of age.

9. Competencies:

  • The successful candidate will be an accomplished strategist with clear and ambitious plans for how they will develop and build success for Indian cricket moving forward. They will need to demonstrate that they can create a winning culture and world leading teams in all forms of the game.
  • The Head Coach should be an outstanding communicator and man manager. Their focus will be on managing a competitive, highly skilled and self-reliant Indian team and an elite performance environment that demands exceptional standards of professionalism.
  • To build a structure in place that ensures that all players are developed as cricketers and individuals. The successful candidate will need to provide confidence that they can develop and improve the existing talent technically and tactically, whilst identifying and integrating new talent into a team culture that is both challenging and supportive.
  • The Head Coach needs to demonstrate great organizational and tactical strengths and will be responsible for setting out and then executing short, medium and long term plans for the development of the Indian team. Central to these will be the ability to manage the playing and coaching resources at their disposal to the greatest effect across the three forms of the game.
