Sydney Sixers: Three Sixers named to tour South Africa, Henriques to captain Australia A

Sixers Steve Smith, Sean Abbott and Josh Hazlewood have been named to tour South Africa with the Australian T20 and One-Day squad, during late February and early March.

Sixers captain Moises Henriques has also been named captain of an Australia A squad to play the England Lions in a four-day day-night first class match at the MCG from 22 February. He is joined by Sixers seamer Jackson Bird in that Australia A squad.

Smith and fast bowler Abbott have been included in a 14-man T20 squad, while fellow quick Hazlewood joins Smith in the One-Day International group of 14 players.

Abbott recently returned from a side strain injury in The Qualifier taking 3-23 from four overs against the Melbourne Stars to help the Sixers into the BBL|09 Final on Saturday at the SCG. He now sits on 99 BBL career wickets.

Both Smith and Hazlewood made their first appearance for the Sixers in six years this season making a significant impact.

Smith scoring 99 runs in his three matches so far at an average of 49.5, including a match-winning 66 not out from 40 balls against the Melbourne Renegades at the SCG.

Hazlewood has claimed four wickets at the strong economy rate of 6.26.
