Cricket Hong Kong announces Nizakat Khan as the Hong Kong Men’s captain

Cricket Hong Kong announces Nizakat Khan as the Hong Kong Men’s captain. Nizakat Khan, now 29 years old brings with him a wealth of international experience having represented the Hong Kong Men’s squad since 2011.

Head Coach Trent Johnston had this to say, “Nizakat is one of our most experienced cricketers and has demonstrated strong leadership and communication skills as a senior player. I am excited to work closely with Nizakat as we look ahead to performing in our upcoming tournaments.”

General Manager – High Performance Mark Farmer had this to say, “Nizakat is incredibly well respected both on and off the field. We have every confidence in his ability to lead this side as we look ahead to an exciting period of cricket coming up in 2021 and 2022.”

The Hong Kong Men’s Team has a busy schedule over the next 18 months with the opportunity to regain ODI status, qualify for the T20 World Cup as well as representing Hong Kong at the Asian Games.

Nizakat Khan had this to say “I am incredibly honored to be given the responsibility to captain Hong Kong. We have an exciting period of cricket coming up and looking forward to leading the side as we work towards regaining ODI status, qualifying for the T20 World Cup and representing Hong Kong at the Asian Games.”

Hong Kong’s next tournament is the T20 World Cup Qualifiers – Asia B to be held in Malaysia in November 2021. The winners of that tournanet will proceed to the T20 World Cup Global Qualfiers.
