A team representing the Melbourne Renegades will compete at the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander T20 Cup in Albury this week.

Four men’s teams – representing the Renegades, Melbourne Stars, Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers – will take part in the event, with matches to be played on Tuesday and Wednesday.

An opening ceremony and welcome to country will open the tournament on Tuesday morning, before a round robin T20 format where each team plays each other once.

The top two teams will play off in the final on Wednesday afternoon.

The Renegades team will feature a number of Indigenous cricketers from Melbourne and regional Victoria’s north-west regions, with the support of some local players from the Albury area.

Playing shirts will feature the same design as the club’s BBL and WBBL Indigenous playing shirts, designed by teenage artist Ky-ya Nicholson Ward of the Wurundjeri mob.
