National Volunteer Week may have passed us by for another year but Cricket NSW is not done recognising the tireless work of individuals, clubs and councils from the state’s cricket community.

Cricket NSW nominated ten candidates for further recognition in the NSW Community Sports Awards, presented by Sport NSW, and no less than six of those have been announced as finalists in their respective categories.

The annual awards recognise outstanding achievements and contributions to community sport in NSW that is largely carried out by the more than 500,000 people across the state who voluntarily dedicate their time through their involvement in sporting clubs and organisations – many of them in cricket.

The CNSW nominated finalists include:

·       Rod Porter for Community Official of the Year

·       Gregory Fox for Community Coach of the Year

·       Emily Atlee for Young Coach of the Year

·       Chris Walker for Community Administrator of the Year

·       Bega-Angledale Cricket Club for Community Club of the Year

·       Lindsay Wood for a Distinguished Long Service Award

CNSW General Manager of Community Cricket, Joanne Scanlon, said the nominations were just reward for excellence and commitment.

“Recently we recognised our nominations, finalists and winners in the Cricket Australia National Community Awards and now it is time to thank and recognise more volunteers in the NSW Community Sports Awards,” Scanlon said.

“We have said many times that our sport simply wouldn’t exist without the efforts of our volunteers and while these nominations, and those that have been successful in making it into the finals, are certainly worthy of greater recognition, we are also thankful to all that have helped our community play and love cricket over what has been a challenging last 12 months.

“We wish our finalists luck in the final judging of these prestigious awards.”

The 2022 NSW Community Sports Awards will be formally presented on Thursday, 30 June 2022 at CommBank Stadium.
