Queensland Cricket has this week launched into a massive season of community cricket around the state, with a number of community events being delivered throughout the month of September across both metro and regional Queensland.
Celebrating a registered participation increase of 7.5% last season, most associations and Woolworths Cricket Blast programs will commence in late September or early October.
All community events are conducted in-line with the State Government’s current COVID-19 Sport and Recreation guidelines.

Queensland Cricket are delighted to present the “Summer of Cricket Launch” brought to you by Street Smarts – a fun, family experience that is a one stop hub where new or existing families in regional Queensland can attend to receive all info on how to play cricket in the 2020-21 Season.
This week saw Brisbane Heat player visits, inflatables, mascots, Cricket Blast active zones and the chance for photo opportunities with the WBBL trophy in Rockhampton, Gladstone, Mackay and Townsville.

The Next Innings: Accelerating Female Participation
Cricket Australia has today released The Next Innings: Accelerating Female Participation to continue the momentum of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Final and growth in female participation.
Independent research conducted has helped shape the strategy, key insights and focus areas that uncovered barriers and drivers for participation in sport among women and girls.

Woolworths Cricket Blast
Woolworths Cricket Blast is a program for Australian kids to get active, something they can do in a safe and controlled environment.
Woolworths Cricket Blast is a program for girls and boys aged 5-12.

‘QLD Fair Play’
Cricket Australia, Queensland Cricket and the Queensland Government have combined to make cricket accessible for all Queensland kids.
For kids aged between 5-17, each participant can apply for the voucher to the value of $150 per participant to cover program entry costs.

Grassroots Cricket Fund
For the third year running, the Grassroots Cricket Fund is making a total of $2 million available to community cricket clubs this season to deliver great experiences and support to their local communities.
Australian cricketers are united in delivering the GCF to make cricket more accessible to all Australians, with $30 million committed to community cricket.
This is giving local clubs the resources to remain an active part of their communities.

Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund
The Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund (ACIF) is a joint initiative between Cricket Australia, Queensland Cricket and the Australian Cricketers’ Association through the Grassroots Cricket Fund that allows cricket clubs and associations, schools and Councils to apply for seed funding to build and improve local cricket facilities and grounds.
Approved funding from the 2019-2020 ACIF will see 44 projects across Queensland receive seed funding of $1.06 million for projects with an expected total value of approximately $23.1 million.
Applications for a new round of ACIF for 2020-21 are due to open soon, with cricket clubs, Councils and schools encouraged to develop project plans that can be moved forward with ACIF seed funding support.
SWIN Partnership – Deadly Cricket
Queensland Cricket has commenced a partnership with the South West Indigenous Network to deliver tailored programs to local Indigenous communities in the south-west of Queensland.
The first round of programs will be held from 14-18 December in Charleville, Cunnamulla, Roma, St George and Surat.

Junior Cricket Commences
After the successful completion last week of the Junior competitions in Winter Warehouse cricket in SEQ, junior summer competitions throughout Queensland will commence from early October with club sign-ons currently underway.
