Cricket Australia, in partnership with NRMA Insurance, is proud to announce the launch of the NRMA Insurance Ashes Trophy Tour, a journey bringing the spirit and legacy of the Ashes to communities across Australia.
In the lead-up to the 2025–26 NRMA Insurance Men’s Ashes Series, the MCC Waterford Crystal Ashes Trophy, the trophy presented to the team that prevails in cricket’s most storied rivalry, will travel to a series of cricketing regions.
This tour will visit locations rich in cricket history, including Cootamundra, birthplace of Sir Donald Bradman, and Harrow, home of Johnny Mullagh and the pioneering 1868 Aboriginal cricket team.
The trophy will also appear in Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Wagga Wagga, Deniliquin, Swan Hill, Adelaide, and Perth, offering fans a rare opportunity to see the crystal trophy up close.
The MCC Waterford Crystal Trophy is a replica of the iconic original, tiny, terracotta Ashes urn, and was commissioned in 1998 as a prize for the winning team. The original urn, now too fragile and precious to be passed around, is permanently housed at Lord’s.
Cricket Australia Chief Commercial Officer Ed Sanders said:
“The Ashes is more than just a cricket series; it’s part of our national sporting identity. Through this tour, we’re giving Australia the chance to connect with the legacy of the game and get closer to the crystal trophy than ever before.”
“The tour is proudly presented by NRMA Insurance, Cricket Australia’s Official Platinum Partner, whose long-standing commitment to community and connection helps bring cricket’s stories to life, from grassroots clubs to the international stage.”
NRMA Insurance CEO Julie Batch said:
“NRMA Insurance has been protecting what matters most for 100 years and is honoured to be helping an iconic symbol of cricket history, the MCC Waterford Crystal Trophy, travel the country ahead of the NRMA Insurance Men’s Ashes Series, and its hopeful return to a triumphant Aussie team.
“This event is a special opportunity to celebrate the history and heroes of the game, and a wonderful way to start what will be a smashing Ashes series.”
Each stop on the tour will feature community events, media opportunities, or appearances by cricket legends and ambassadors, giving fans the chance to share in the excitement ahead of the 2025–26 NRMA Insurance Ashes Series.
