Cricket Australia today welcomes CADBURY as Support Partner of the Australian Women’s Cricket Team.

The partnership comes off the back of a landmark year for the women’s game that culminated in Australia claiming back-to-back T20 World Cup titles in front of a record 86, 174 fans at the MCG on International Women’s Day in March.

As part of its National Women in Sport initiative, CADBURY is also partnering with AFLW, NRLW and the Matildas, uniting the leading sporting codes to support the continued growth and equality of women’s sports in Australia.

The CADBURY Women in Sport initiative will shine a light on a number of incredible Australian athletes and their sporting codes, giving young girls progressive, diverse and positive role models to look up to.

To support the progress of women in sport and inspire the next generation, CADBURY has partnered with four inspiring women across the sporting codes for its Women in Sport initiative including Australian Young Cricketer of the Year, fast-bowler Tayla Vlaeminck.

Speaking on the partnership, Meg Lanning, Australia Captain, said:

“To have such an iconic brand like CADBURY supporting the team and women’s sport more broadly is really exciting and we look forward to working with them to help encourage more girls to pick up a bat and ball.

“We’ve been lucky enough to have the support of the Commonwealth Bank for over a decade and to now have CADBURY on board too, we’re confident we can take the women’s game to a new level.”

Nick Hockley, Cricket Australia Interim CEO, said:

“Participation in cricket and other team sports has so many benefits for young girls. From teamwork, leadership, confidence to being a fun and exciting way to stay fit and healthy with friends.

“We’re delighted to welcome CADBURY to the Australian Cricket family and are very appreciative of their support to grow the game.”
