Scotland Women have been named Team of the Year at the Scottish Women In Sport Awards, held on Friday.

The well deserved recognition comes after a sensational 2024, which saw the Scots qualify and then compete at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup for the first time. Scotland have also achieved a top-12 ODI ranking this year, establishing themselves as a growing force in world cricket.

Scotland pipped Celtic FC Women and Scotland U21 Women’s Hockey to the award, which was chosen by a panel of industry experts. Several members of the squad and backroom team were present to accept the award at the Radisson Hotel in Glasgow, including Abtaha Maqsood, Olivia Bell, Darcey Carter, Katherine Fraser, Maryam Faisal, Head Coach Craig Wallace and Assistant Coach Joe Kinghorn-Gray.

There could be further awards in the offing for Scotland, as the team are one of three nominees for Team of the Year at next month’s Scottish Sports Awards. Captain Kathryn Bryce is nominated for Female Athlete of the Year while Nayma Sheikh is in the running for Young Athlete of the Year.

The Scottish Sports Awards take place on Wednesday 4 December at the Glasgow Science Centre. More details can be found here.
