Cricket South Africa (CSA) has officially announced the Local Organising Committee Board (LOCB) for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027, naming former South African Finance Minister Trevor Manuel as Independent Chairman.
High-level leadership ahead of landmark African World Cup
Trevor Manuel, renowned for leading South Africa’s economic reform and national development planning, brings strategic expertise to the LOCB. CSA emphasized that Manuel’s leadership reflects the values of discipline, governance, and vision needed to deliver a successful Cricket World Cup 2027.
Joining Manuel are six Independent Non-Executive Directors, five Non-Independent Non-Executive Directors, and three Ex-Officio members, creating a well-rounded leadership team with deep expertise across finance, law, education, and strategic planning.
A bold, inclusive vision for CWC 2027
With co-hosts Zimbabwe and Namibia, CSA has laid out an ambitious vision for the tournament—using cricket as a platform for cultural connection and regional growth. The tournament will feature 44 matches in South Africa and 10 in Zimbabwe and Namibia, across cities including:
Johannesburg
Pretoria
Cape Town
Durban
Gqeberha
Bloemfontein
East London
Paarl
“24 years have passed since the last ICC Cricket World Cup was held on African soil,” said CSA President Rihan Richards. “This is a sought-after opportunity to connect the continent and the world through digital innovation and fan engagement.”
Diversity and legacy at the heart of LOC’s mandate
CSA Board Chair Pearl Maphoshe emphasized that the LOCB is tasked with staging an event that reflects the face of modern South Africa—diverse, inclusive, and globally relevant. “The tournament will be vibrantly different in its style, atmosphere, and experience,” said Maphoshe. “It will provide players, fans, and partners with a unique and unforgettable experience.”
CSA is confident that the LOCB will deliver on its mandate to create a seamless and impactful global event with long-term benefits for cricket in the region.
