Cricket West Indies (CWI) governs cricket across the West Indies, a confederation of Caribbean countries. Originally established as the West Indies Cricket Board of Control in the 1920s, it became the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) in 1996 and was rebranded as Cricket West Indies in May 2017 as part of a restructuring effort.

The West Indies Women have their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup semi-final hopes hanging by a victory over Pakistan on Sunday, but vice-captain Shemaine Campbelle is not worried about the pressure behind the match.

“Obviously we’re not going to think about that much to add any pressure on ourselves. It’s just to go out and play the brand of cricket that we can play and just doing the basic things right. Then we can just play the cricket that we know we can play and at the end of the day the results will come. They come in with a win, we also have a win so I think both teams have that confidence but it’s just for us to go out and apply ourselves and just play the brand of cricket that we know we can play.”

Both teams are coming off victories over Ireland, but Pakistan has a record of defeating the West Indies at World Cups. They shocked the 2016 champions with a first-round exit in Australia in 2020 and will no doubt be looking for another knockout performance on Sunday.

The West Indies will be bolstered by the lion-hearted bravery and performance of captain Hayley Matthews who carved away at the runs against Ireland to earn the Maroon Warriors their first win of the tournament.

No doubt everything is on the line and the West Indies will therefore have all to play for when they play their fourth and final preliminary match on Sunday against Pakistan at the picturesque Boland Park in Paarl. First ball is 3pm (9am Eastern Caribbean/8am Jamaica).
