The JSW and GMR co-owned Delhi Capitals today announced the appointment of former Sri Lanka pacer Chaminda Vaas as Fast Bowling Coach and veteran India leg-spinner Amit Mishra as Spin Bowling Coach ahead of the new season of the Indian Premier League.

The two former internationals bring extensive experience across international and franchise cricket, with Vaas set to work closely with the Capitals’ pace bowling group, while Mishra will lead the spin department. They join Head Coach Sourav Ganguly and Assistant & Batting Coach Yuvraj Singh as part of the Delhi Capitals’ revamped coaching staff for the new season.

One of Sri Lanka’s most successful fast bowlers, Vaas represented his country across formats for more than 15 years. He featured in 111 Tests, 322 ODIs and six T20Is, claiming more than 750 wickets in international cricket. A key member of Sri Lanka’s bowling attack for several years, Vaas was renowned for his ability to swing the ball, extract movement and maintain control across conditions. He also featured in 13 IPL matches, claiming 18 wickets, and was part of the Deccan Chargers squad that lifted the IPL title in 2009.

Mishra, meanwhile, is one of the most experienced Indian spinners in IPL history. The leg-spinner has featured in 162 IPL matches and claimed 174 wickets, making him one of the league’s most prolific wicket-takers. He made his IPL debut for Delhi and went on to spend 10 seasons with the franchise across two spells, while also representing other teams in the competition. His appointment marks a return to Delhi Capitals, where he will now take on a new role as Bowling Coach.
