An independent Cricket Discipline Panel has found ECB-registered agent Mustafa Kamal in breach of the ECB’s Agent Regulations after he provided misleading information to the ECB about a player’s contractual position.
While the Tribunal dismissed allegations that Mr Kamal had encouraged the player to breach an existing agency agreement, it concluded that he acted recklessly by making representations without first properly verifying the facts.
In determining sanction, the Tribunal took into account Mr Kamal’s previous good character, cooperation during the investigation and relative inexperience as an agent, and imposed a reprimand and a £500 fine.
In a subsequent ruling on publication, the Tribunal rejected an application by Mr Kamal to anonymise the decision, finding there was a significant public interest in transparency and accountability and that the judgment should be published in full. Mr Kamal has voluntarily withdrawn from the list of ECB registered agents.
