India name Test squad for Sri Lanka tour as Bumrah faces fitness race

Shubman Gill will lead India in the two-Test series, with Jasprit Bumrah and Sai Sudharsan awaiting fitness clearance and Washington Sundar unavailable for the opener.

The Men’s Selection Committee has selected India’s squad for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Ahead of the series, the team will play a four-day practice match in Colombo, starting on 7 August.

India’s squad for Tests against Sri Lanka: Shubman Gill [C], KL Rahul [VC], Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant [WK], Sai Sudharsan*, Dhruv Jurel [WK], Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Manav Suthar, Jasprit Bumrah*, Mohd. Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Devdutt Padikkal, Saransh Jain

Note:

  • Sai Sudharsan and Jasprit Bumrah’s availability will be subject to fitness clearance from the BCCI COE.
  • Washington Sundar was not available for selection for the first Test.
