A campaign film that celebrates the Indian jersey

JioStar, the official broadcaster and digital partner of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, has officially released its much-anticipated campaign film, “Jersey Wahi Toh Jazba Wahi.” Conceptualised by BubbleWrap Films, the short film tells a powerful story of how the Indian jersey transcends gender and individual players, serving as a unifying symbol for the nation.

The narrative follows a young office-goer hesitant to wear a Smriti Mandhana jersey to work. Along his journey, he encounters fellow Indians proudly donning jerseys of women’s cricket stars. The turning point arrives in a poignant lift scene when a worker, also wearing Mandhana’s No.18 jersey, says:

“Virat khelein ya Smriti, jeetega toh India hi na” (Whether it’s Virat or Smriti, India wins anyway).

The moment underlines the campaign’s central message: equal pride in every Indian jersey, regardless of whether it belongs to the men’s or women’s team.

JioStar’s vision for the Women’s World Cup

Speaking at the launch, Siddharth Sharma, Head, Viewership and Monetisation Initiative, Sports – JioStar, said:

“The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup India 2025 marks a defining moment for Indian cricket — a powerful opportunity to inspire a new generation of fans as the Women in Blue set out, on home soil, to chase a trophy that has so far eluded them.”

He went on to add:

“With the roar of a billion voices behind them and the advantage of playing in front of home crowds, Team India enters this campaign not just as hopefuls but as genuine contenders. This isn’t just about cricket — it’s about rewriting history. Our endeavour is to channel this moment into a campaign that not only supports our players but unites the country behind them. And what better way to do that than by invoking the deep pride that comes with the Indian jersey? This film captures the journey of the Indian fan — a coming-of-age story where we acknowledge that it’s time we take equal pride in every Indian jersey, whether it belongs to our men’s or women’s teams.”

Building anticipation for a landmark tournament

The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, with Pakistan’s fixtures scheduled on Sri Lankan soil. The tournament begins on September 30 in Guwahati, where Harmanpreet Kaur’s India will face Chamari Athapaththu’s Sri Lanka in the opener.

This will be the first time since 2013 that India hosts the Women’s World Cup, making it a historic return of the event to the subcontinent. Fans can catch every match live on the Star Sports Network and stream it on JioHotstar, ensuring nationwide access to the action.

More than a campaign — a cultural shift

JioStar’s “Jersey Wahi Toh Jazba Wahi” isn’t just a promotional film. It reflects a cultural shift in Indian cricket fandom, where support for the Women in Blue is positioned on equal footing with the men’s team. By highlighting the emotional resonance of the jersey, JioStar seeks to galvanize fans and elevate women’s cricket viewership to new heights.

As anticipation builds, the campaign underscores that this World Cup is not only about sporting excellence but also about uniting a nation behind every jersey, every player, and every moment of India’s journey.
