The International Cricket Council ('ICC') is the global governing body for the sport, which administers all aspects of international cricket.
We are recruiting an Investigator to join the ICC Integrity & Security Department. The Integrity & Security Department protects cricket by preventing and detecting corruption, delivering informed anti-doping programmes and keeping events safe and secure. This role sits within the Department’s Resolve function, which covers prevention, disruption, investigation, and prosecution. The Investigator leads investigations into corruption and other integrity matters, turning information and intelligence into evidence that protects the game. It is a hands-on role for an experienced investigator who is confident in
using OSINT, has a good working knowledge of forensic techniques, and works well both independently and as part of a team.
Principal Accountabilities
Responsibilities of the Investigator include, but are not limited to:
Investigations
• Run investigations into corruption and other integrity matters in cricket from start to finish.
• Interview suspects and witnesses in line with standard operating procedures and best practices.
• Gather, record and protect evidence to the right standard, including material that may need forensic examination.
• Prepare and complete clear reports for the Senior Manager and Head of Integrity & Security.
• Prepare material to support prosecutions and protection orders so cases reach a fair and credible outcome.
Intelligence and OSINT
• Use open-source intelligence (OSINT) to find, check and develop leads, working within legal and ethical limits.
• Analyse intelligence and data, including link and flow charting, and turn it into clear findings.
• Research, collate and analyse material to support decision-making and management briefings.
• Provide intelligence support on anti-corruption and integrity investigations.
• Use and understand a range of intelligence databases and analytical tools.
Evidence and Forensics
• Apply a good working knowledge of forensic capabilities across investigations.
• Deploy mobile device, download equipment, and analyse the results using specialist platforms.
• Recognise and preserve evidence so it is suitable for forensic and scientific examination.
• Keep up to date with current investigation techniques, tactics and technical assistance.
• Maintain the chain of custody and handle sensitive material with care.
Working Across the Integrity Unit
• Work with the Legal team and the wider Resolve function to take cases through to a fair outcome.
• Share what cases reveal with the Prepare function, feeding risk ratings and intelligence.
• Feed learning into the Engage function to support education and Member resilience.
• Provide additional support to the Anti-Corruption Managers during tournaments and high-risk events.
• Perform the role of the Anti-Corruption Manager during tournaments and events, when required.
• Work with law enforcement and partners across different countries and legal frameworks.
Member Relationships, Knowledge Sharing and Capacity Building
• Build and keep strong, trusted relationships with Members, domestic anti-corruption units and other partners.
• Share intelligence and good practice to help Members protect cricket in their own jurisdictions.
• Support education and awareness work so prevention messages land with players and officials.
• Assist with training other Integrity resources so the team stays multi-skilled.
• Work respectfully across cultures, recognising the global, multi-cultural nature of the game.
Knowledge, Skills, Attitude and Experience
• Minimum of 5 years' experience running end-to-end investigations, ideally in sport, regulation or law enforcement.
• Background in investigations, intelligence or law enforcement.
• Proven track record of: managing complex investigations independently; interviewing witnesses and suspects from different cultural backgrounds; and preparing detailed reports.
• Strong knowledge of internationally accepted investigation standards and procedures.
• Demonstrated current experience using OSINT effectively, together with a good working knowledge of forensic capabilities.
• Experience of working internationally, with a deep appreciation of cultural awareness.
• The ability to work well both independently and as part of a team. This is essential.
• High ethical standards and integrity, with the ability to work within a confidential environment.
• Excellent written and spoken English, including report and business writing.
• An understanding of English civil law, which the ICC Integrity & Security Department uses as the basis for its investigations, is an advantage.
