Ahead of the NRMA Insurance Pink Test starting on Wednesday at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the McGrath Foundation and Cricket Australia are calling on Australia to unite in pink to help reach the McGrath Foundation’s goal of 250 McGrath Breast Care Nurses this year.

The fundraising target for the 16th Pink Test aims to set a new benchmark through the Virtual Pink Seat campaign with an ambitious goal to sell 322,000 Virtual Pink Seats, raising $6.44 million.

Marking the announcement at the Sydney Cricket Ground, McGrath Foundation Co-Founder & President, Glenn McGrath, was joined by the Australian and Pakistan Men’s Cricket Teams during their final preparations for the Pink Test.

McGrath Foundation Co-Founder & President, Glenn McGrath said:

“Every year in Australia more than 20,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer and unfortunately around 1 in 5 miss out on the support of a breast care nurse.

“Our mission at the McGrath Foundation is to ensure that no one goes through breast cancer without the care of a breast care nurse. To do this we need 250 McGrath Breast Care Nurses and through the Pink Test we believe this is a target we can achieve this year.

“We’re calling on Australians to unite in pink by buying a Virtual Pink Seat this Pink Test,” McGrath continued.

Cricket Australia CEO, Nick Hockley said:

“We can’t wait for the NRMA Insurance Pink Test over the coming days.Throughout our long-term partnership with the McGrath Foundation, the Pink Test has evolved into one of Australia’s most iconic sporting events that brings the community together in support of families experiencing breast cancer.

“The Virtual Pink Seat campaign is a great way for those who can’t make it to the ground to get involved and show their support.”

Sydney Cricket Ground CEO, Kerrie Mather said:

“We’re proud to host the New Year’s Pink Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground once again for what is always a special occasion as communities unite in pink for those with breast cancer.

“It’s fantastic to see the sea of pink supporters in the grandstands each year and we encourage all of Australia to unite in pink by purchasing their Virtual Pink Seats.”

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australian women, with 57 people diagnosed with the disease each day. Over the last 16 years the Pink Test has seen Cricket Australia, the Sydney Cricket Ground and the cricket community rally in support with it becoming a symbol of hope and unity for people experiencing breast cancer.

Virtual Pink Seats are available now for $20 from pinktest.com.au. Single, double and group Virtual Pink Seats are available that can be personalised and shared with #PinkTest.
