The Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association is developing an AI-powered enterprise resource planning (ERP) system aimed at reshaping how cricket is administered and how players are selected across its structure. The initiative centres on creating a unified digital framework to connect districts, divisions and the central body while reducing inefficiencies that have traditionally slowed processes and limited visibility.
Technology integration at the core of reform
Speaking at the NDTV Yuva 2026 event on Saturday, Mahanaaryaman Scindia said, “As a young leader, I believe there are a few primary ways to drive meaningful change, starting with the integration of technology into sports administration,”
He added, “We are currently in the ideation phase of a novel ERP designed to manage administration, compliance, and player selection,”
The system is intended to bring multiple operational functions into a single digital platform, enabling structured oversight and reducing fragmentation across administrative processes.
Addressing structural disconnects
Scindia noted, “At present, the connection between the MPCA and its underlying divisions and districts is often hazy regarding accounting and committee processes.”
The move towards a centralised system is designed to close these gaps by ensuring that information flows consistently between all levels of the organisation.
Automating compliance and funding processes
He further said, “This platform will ensure that all grants, compliances, and reimbursements are handled technologically. You have to first apply for a grant. When you upload your requirements for a grant, an AI model will automatically flag any missing requirements.”
By embedding automation into financial and compliance workflows, the system aims to reduce manual intervention while improving accuracy and accountability.
Data-led selection process
He added, “This system will foster transparency by feeding data points, such as runs and wickets, directly into the ERP. Selectors will be able to analyse players on a dashboard and build their teams digitally before sending them to the MPCA for final approval. It is a fully transparent process, led entirely by technology.”
The introduction of performance data into a central platform is expected to shift selection towards a more measurable and consistent framework.
Filling a gap in cricket systems
Scindia said, “Currently, India has yet to see a dedicated ERP for cricket. Given my background with my own AI startup, I wanted to infuse those learnings into the sport.”
The initiative reflects an attempt to introduce technology solutions that have been widely adopted in other industries but remain limited in cricket administration.
