Mumbai Indians have sought to cool growing speculation surrounding Hardik Pandya’s future, insisting that the franchise has not entered into discussions over any potential player trades as it continues its post-season review ahead of the 2027 Indian Premier League season.
The clarification comes after renewed reports linked the India all-rounder with a possible move away from the five-time champions, with several franchises continuing to be associated with one of the biggest potential player movements of the current IPL off-season.
Mumbai Indians reiterate their position
Speaking to Sportstar, a Mumbai Indians spokesperson said, “Our post-season review is currently on, and we are looking into all aspects of the team. Contrary to reports, we are not engaged in conversations with regard to player trades; the same is only possible once the review is complete.”
The spokesperson added, “A range of options and ideas are being evaluated, which require time; hence no decisions have been made.”
The latest comments indicate that the franchise remains focused on completing its internal assessment before making any decisions regarding player movements, despite continued speculation surrounding its captain.
Trade speculation continues
As previously reported by cricexec, Hardik Pandya attracted interest from seven IPL franchises earlier in the trade window, with Chennai Super Kings emerging among the leading contenders while Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals were also linked with the India all-rounder.
Also as reported previously by cricexec, both Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings subsequently rejected suggestions that they were engaged in active trade discussions, stressing that any decisions regarding player movements would only be considered after their respective post-season reviews.
Although Mumbai Indians have again ruled out ongoing negotiations, reports continue to link several franchises with Pandya as teams assess potential squad changes ahead of the 2027 season.
Future remains under review
Pandya has been at the centre of trade speculation following another difficult IPL campaign for Mumbai Indians, prompting continued discussion over whether the franchise could reshape its squad before the next season.
While interest from rival teams has kept the conversation alive, Mumbai Indians’ latest position remains unchanged: no trade discussions are currently underway, with any decisions on Pandya’s future expected only after the club completes its review process.
