Hardik Pandya has emerged as one of the most sought-after players in the Indian Premier League trade market, with seven franchises expressing interest in signing Mumbai Indians Captain Hardik Pandya, according to a report by Times of India. Chennai Super Kings are understood to be leading the race as discussions continue around one of the biggest potential player moves ahead of the 2027 season.

The reported interest highlights Pandya’s continued value despite Mumbai Indians’ disappointing 2026 campaign. Having already enjoyed title-winning success with Gujarat Titans before returning to Mumbai as Captain, the India all-rounder remains one of the league’s most influential multi-dimensional players, making him a prime target for franchises looking to strengthen both their squad and leadership group.

Multiple contenders remain in the race

The report states that only Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad are not pursuing Pandya during the current trade window.

Alongside Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals are among the franchises pushing strongly for the 32-year-old. While no agreement has been finalised, discussions are reportedly continuing as teams explore different trade structures and financial arrangements.

Player approval is expected to remain a key requirement before any deal can be completed, with negotiations likely to involve multiple moving parts before a transfer can progress further.

CSK’s interest reflects long-term planning

Chennai’s reported interest comes as the franchise continues to shape its squad for the years beyond the MS Dhoni era. While Pandya’s leadership credentials add to his appeal, any potential move would involve broader strategic considerations, including squad balance and long-term planning.

The report also indicates that communication remains active between Mumbai Indians and interested franchises as trade possibilities continue to be evaluated, with no official confirmation from either the player or the franchises involved.

Bengaluru move adds further context

As previously reported by cricexec, Pandya has also relocated to Bengaluru after making the BCCI Centre of Excellence his permanent training base outside IPL, state and national commitments.

A BCCI source told PTI: “Hardik has already permanently shifted to Bengaluru. He has rented a property on the outskirts of the city, close to the COE. He will be the first Indian cricketer to make the COE his permanent training base for the remainder of his career.”

The move comes as Pandya continues his recovery from the quadriceps injury that ruled him out of India’s ongoing white-ball tour, with the Centre of Excellence expected to play a central role in managing his fitness and workload over the coming years.

Trade discussions continue

While interest in Pandya has intensified across the league, no transfer has been agreed at this stage. Discussions are understood to be ongoing, with Mumbai Indians expected to weigh their options before any decision is made on the India all-rounder’s future ahead of the 2027 IPL season.
