North West Cricket appoints OT Phiri as interim CEO after Minty suspension

Board confirms leadership change with immediate effect, backing Phiri to ensure stability as internal process unfolds

The Board of Directors of North West Cricket (NWC), at a duly constituted special meeting, has resolved to appoint Acting Chief Executive Officer following the precautionary suspension of Mr Ismail Minty.

Mr OT Phiri has been appointed as the Acting CEO of North West Cricket with immediate effect.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Phiri stated: “I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Board for entrusting me with the responsibility of serving as Acting CEO. I am truly excited about this opportunity and the challenge that comes with it, and I am grateful for the confidence they have placed in me. Earlier today, I had the privilege of meeting the staff, and I am encouraged by the strong sense of potential, experience, and enthusiasm within the team. I look forward to working closely with them as we continue to build and strengthen the organisation together.”

Mr Phiri is equipped with the core knowledge required within the cricket environment, with years of leadership experience in the sports sector, with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) qualification, and a proven track record in strategic leadership, management, and operational excellence.

The Board is confident that under his stewardship, NWC will continue to deliver on its mandate and serve its stakeholders effectively.

The Board assures all stakeholders that this leadership change will not disrupt the organisation’s operations, and that the internal process regarding the suspended CEO will be conducted with fairness , transparency and due diligence.
