Eight Pakistan cricketers have been fined a total of Rs3 million for various breaches of the code of conduct during Pakistan’s home Test series against England in October and their tour of Australia in November 2024.
The largest fine was imposed on all-rounder Aamir Jamal, who was penalized approximately Rs1.3 million for wearing a cap with a political slogan during an interview in the first Test against England. The cap featured ‘804,’ which refers to the prisoner identification number of former Prime Minister and legendary all-rounder Imran Khan, who is currently incarcerated in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.
In addition to Jamal, three players were fined Rs500,000 each for arriving late at the team hotel during Pakistan’s white-ball tour to Australia in November. Moreover, four cricketers—Salman Ali Agha, Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafique, and Abbas Afridi—were penalized for violating curfew regulations during the team’s white-ball series in South Africa.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has emphasized that these disciplinary actions are internal matters, aimed at safeguarding the players’ reputations.
These fines have come under increased scrutiny following Pakistan’s disappointing early exit from the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025. As defending champions, Pakistan failed to win a single match, suffering defeats to New Zealand and India, before their final group-stage fixture against Bangladesh was washed out.
