A significant scheduling clash between the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and Pakistan’s all-format tour of Bangladesh has prompted both cricket boards to initiate discussions on rescheduling the upcoming international series.

According to a report by Geo Super, the Pakistan Cricket Board’s recent announcement that PSL 11 will run from March 26 to May 3, 2026, has directly overlapped with Pakistan’s originally planned tour of Bangladesh in March–April. The tour includes two ICC World Test Championship (WTC) matches, three ODIs, and three T20Is, all of which are now likely to be moved to a new window.

Discussions ongoing to retain full tour schedule

Speaking to Geo Super, a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) source confirmed that the tour will be adjusted to avoid conflict with the PSL. “The series will be rescheduled,” said the BCB source.

The source emphasized that the two boards are aligned in discussions, adding, “The two cricket boards are currently in discussion.”

Despite the scheduling issue, both sides remain committed to retaining the full series as planned. “The number of matches will not be reduced under any circumstances. The suitable window is being accessed and will be disclosed soon,” the BCB source noted.

There may also be a structural tweak within the white-ball fixtures. “ODI or T20I matches can be reshuffled in the ODI series. The official announcement will be made soon after consultation with the PCB,” the source added.

PSL expansion adds scheduling complexity

The PSL’s growing commercial footprint is a key backdrop to the scheduling conflict. With the league expanding from six to eight franchises in its 11th edition, this marks the first major restructuring of the tournament since 2018. The new season is already generating buzz due to the introduction of two additional teams, which has further intensified the PCB’s planning efforts.

As part of this broader initiative, the PCB has been hosting international roadshows — including recent events in London at Lord’s Cricket Ground and New York — to attract investors ahead of the new franchise auction.

Awaiting final announcement

While the rescheduling is now virtually certain, both boards are expected to formalize the new dates soon. The revised timeline is likely to be announced following final consultations and logistical evaluations. Until then, the cricketing calendars of both nations remain in careful negotiation, aiming to balance domestic commitments with international responsibilities.
