The Role:
To lead in the development and growth of player affinity and cricket operations services to all members of the PCA. To play a key role in representing member interests in all cricket related matters, including contract negotiation, minimum employment standards, agent relationships and key County, Hundred and ECB relationships. To work closely with the Playing Chair of the PCA regarding PCA Player Rep relationships and member engagement and to work with the Cricket Department to provide support to the European Player Associations.
Salary:
£40k+ (depending on experience), performance-related bonus and benefits including private health insurance.
Key Responsibilities:
The Cricket Operations Liaison position will lead in the day to day relationships between the PCA and its membership alongside the PCA Playing Chair and key PCA staff. Working closely with the Director of Cricket Operations, you will play an important role in contract negotiation, key County relationships and agent relationships. You will also hold responsibility for numerous operation elements of the Cricket Department in achieving optimum efficiency.
Player Affinity
- To develop, manage and deliver a player affinity plan to increase affinity between PCA and its membership.
- Work with Member Services Manager regarding evolving attractive player events that players wish to attend.
- Work with Member Services manager to increase player attendance at PCA events.
- Work with PCA Playing Chair and Player Rep’s to develop member relationships and communication channels. Attend County and Hundred matches and training on a regular basis throughout the summer.
- Support the PCA Chair/PCA Executive with leading on player communications generally around player related matters.
- Manage the Cricket department player affinity scheduling.
- Support Senior Player Rights Executive with TEPP & EWPP player inductions.
- Attend and support key PCA events including Pre Season meetings, PCA AGM, PCA Summit, PCA Awards and Rookie Camp.
Player/Agent Support:
- Support Director of Cricket Operations with providing player contractual support.
- Work Director of Cricket Operations on the implementation and management of all contractual minimum standards.
- Deliver education sessions at Academy level to all 26 Academies across a 2 year cycle regarding contracts and Agents.
- Work with Director of Cricket Operations to manage and improve First Class County Director of Cricket and Cricket Operation Manager relationships.
- Support Director of Cricket Operations with PWG and Cricket Advisory matters including attendance at meetings where required.
- Work with members of the cricket department on player agent relationships and management processes, including player agent education.
European Player Associations
- Work with Director of Cricket Operations to deliver service provision and support to the European Player Associations.
- Engage with WCA on European Player Association matters as required.
General
- Liaise with Personal Development Managers on a general basis to ensure appropriate levels of player support
- Work with Cricket Operations Executive regarding evolution of our Franchise Winter Support services
- Work with Cricket Operations Executive regarding our management of the Winter Franchise insurance policy.
- Work with Director of Cricket Operations and Communications department regarding updating of the MVP programme.
Experience Required
Essential:
- Experience in an operations role
- Strong communicator
- Excellent administrative skills, speed of response is key with strong planning skills
- Good time management and attention to detail
- Experience of presenting and public speaking
- Personable and strong relationship building skills
- Conflict management skills
- Flexibility to work unregular hours and travel
- Extensive knowledge of the male and female professional game in England and Wales
- Good understanding of international and franchised cricket
