With eight Associate leaders competing for three ICC Chief Executives’ Committee seats, cricexec’s special series brings their voices, visions, and solutions to the global cricket community ahead of this week’s pivotal election

This week cricexec is proud to launch an exclusive feature series: Meet the ICC CEC Candidates — spotlighting the eight Associate Member chiefs contesting for three seats on the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Chief Executives’ Committee (CEC).

Set against the backdrop of a fast-changing cricket landscape, this is no ordinary election. The CEC is one of the ICC’s most powerful bodies, comprised of the CEOs of all Full Member national boards alongside elected Associate representatives — the leaders of cricket’s so-called “emerging” nations. Together, they help shape policies, governance, and the direction of the global game.

Why does this matter?

Because the issues facing cricket today — from player welfare and non-payment crises to the global calendar logjam, investment in women’s cricket, and the rise and regulation of franchise leagues — will decide the sport’s future for decades. And the Associate voice, representing cricket’s fastest-growing regions, is critical to ensuring that future is not just reserved for the “big” countries, but is genuinely global.

Why cricexec is doing this series

While only a handful of executives will cast votes in Friday’s election (July 17), Cricexec believes the cricket world at large deserves to know who these candidates are, what they stand for, and how they think about the game’s biggest challenges. This series aims to bring transparency, insight, and visibility — not just for those within ICC boardrooms, but for the wider cricket industry and community.

We’ve invited all eight candidates to participate in the series, offering them a chance to:
✅ Share their official bio and position statement (if they choose)
✅ Answer one core question: “What is one of the most pressing issues facing the cricket world today, and what should be done to address it?”

This open-ended question is designed to surface not just what matters most to them, but how they think, what solutions they envision, and what leadership they would bring to the CEC.

Starting today, cricexec will publish two candidate profiles per day, running through Wednesday — and Thursday if needed — ahead of the election on Friday.

As of now, four of the eight candidates have confirmed their participation and two more have indicated they will.

Why this election matters

The Associate Member seats are more than symbolic. They are a critical link between the ICC’s top tier and the 90+ countries outside it. With the game expanding rapidly into the U.S., Europe, Africa, and Asia, these leaders help ensure that global development, not just elite revenues, stays at the heart of cricket’s agenda.

By bringing their voices to light, Cricexec hopes to elevate the conversation, inform the global audience, and support a more transparent and accountable cricket ecosystem.

Stay tuned each day this week on cricexec.com and across our social channels as we bring you exclusive profiles of the ICC CEC candidates — and help you meet the emerging voices shaping the future of the sport.
