Scotland’s new World Cup playing shirt has been unveiled on an Ayrshire beach – after being designed by a junior member of Prestwick Cricket Club

Thirteen-year-old Millie Chaudhary’s vision was selected as the winner from hundreds of entries to Cricket Scotland’s “Design the Shirt” competition, and her creation has been brought to life in time for Scotland’s appearance at next month’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England.

On Thursday, Scotland internationals Abtaha Maqsood, Megan McColl and U19 star Gabriella Fontenla arrived in the town to surprise Millie with the news of her win and present her with the prize of a new Scotland shirt in her design on Prestwick Beach. It coincided with the arrival in the town of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup trophy on the first day of its tour across Scotland.

The new Scotland World Cup shirt, a vibrant blue and pink colour with tartan sleeves designed by kit partners Gray-Nicolls, will be worn for the first time in competition when Scotland face Ireland at Old Trafford on Saturday 13 June.

It will then be worn by all Scotland men’s and women’s teams competing at tournaments during the next ICC cycle, with the next tournament being the 2027 ICC Women’s U19 World Cup. The first opportunity for Scotland Men to wear the shirt will be at the 2027 ICC World Cup, should they qualify.

An expert panel selected the winning design that included Cricket Scotland President Omar Henry, Scotland Women’s vice-captain Sarah Bryce, Scotland Men’s allrounder Jack Jarvis, Cricket Scotland’s Commercial Communications and Marketing Committee member Iain Millar, and Gray-Nicolls representative Paul Jenkins.

Millie said:

“I’m totally shocked my design was selected but I’m so happy. I only entered the competition for fun after my mum sent me a link to it! I love the design and I’m so proud to see it and how it’s come out.

“It was so fun to hang out with the players and see the trophy, just a once in a lifetime experience, and I can’t wait to see them play in my shirt at the T20 World Cup.”

Sarah Bryce said:

“It was great to see how many people got involved with the competition and to have the opportunity to judge such a variety of entries.

“I love the winning design and can’t wait to wear it at the World Cup next month. I think it’s been a brilliant initiative, and it definitely will add an extra something wearing a shirt one of our supporters has designed – hopefully Millie is really proud, and this is a special moment for her.”

Jack Jarvis said:

“I think the Design the Shirt campaign has been an excellent initiative and a great way to engage young people in cricket. It was fantastic to see so many entries and know there is a huge number of fans out there who are excited and getting involved in our sport.

“We received lots of great designs all with creativity and Scottish touches throughout. The final decision was difficult, but we’re all very happy with the winning shirt, and I’m looking forward to seeing it being worn by the women’s team at the World Cup next month.”

Iain Millar, Cricket Scotland’s Commercial Communications and Marketing Committee representative, said:

“There was a huge buzz around the Men’s T20 World Cup earlier in the year, and it’s terrific to see that engagement carry over into this competition ahead of the Women’s World Cup. There were a huge number of high-quality entries, and the winning design really is something special – many congratulations to Millie!

“It’s a tantalising time for Scottish cricket, with both our men’s and women’s international team competing on the world stage in 2026. The new shirt is a fitting reflection of these moments and worthy of iconic status.”

Scotland’s new World Cup shirt will be available to purchase from Thursday 14 May, via the Cricket Scotland website and in partnership with kit suppliers Gray-Nicolls.
