Dan Christian will captain the Melbourne Renegades in the absence of Aaron Finch when the Renegades host the Stars in Friday night’s Melbourne Derby at Marvel Stadium.

Christian has been named skipper of the 13-man squad that comprises four changes to the group that travelled to Geelong for Tuesday’s loss to Perth.

Tom Cooper, Joe Mennie, Jack Wildermuth and new signing Luke Robins have all been added to the squad in place of Finch, Kane Richardson, Tom Andrews and Andrew Fekete.

Finch and Richardson are both currently travelling to India to represent Australia in a three-match One Day International series.

The match will be Christian’s first time captaining the club after arriving via the Hobart Hurricanes ahead of BBL|08.

He will have fond memories of the Renegades’ last meeting with the Stars at Marvel Stadium, when he was named Man of the Match in the ‘Gades’ victory in last season’s final.

Robins, meanwhile, is a South Australia fast bowler who has been named as a local replacement player for Aaron Finch. The move has been approved by the W/BBL Technical Committee.
