The Melbourne Stars can confirm Trent Woodhill has resigned from his role as List Manager at the club but will continue as Head Coach of the WBBL team.

Woodhill has accepted a consultant role with Cricket Australia working on global player acquisition and the BBL competition more broadly. He recently played a pivotal role in the creation of The Hundred tournament in the UK with the ECB.

“I’m grateful to the Melbourne Stars for their understanding in this decision and I’d like to thank Cricket Australia for giving me this a great opportunity. It’s clear that it would not be appropriate to hold a List Manager role while working more broadly on player acquisition with the league,” Woodhill said.

“I will continue in my coaching role with the WBBL side which is something I’m really looking forward to. With the recent signing of Australian captain Meg Lanning, we’re putting the pieces together to deliver a competitive squad for this year’s tournament.”

Melbourne Stars General Manager Nick Cummins wished Woodhill well with his appointment.

“Trent’s experience and cricket nous are widely sought after around the world and we respect his decision to pursue this opportunity with Cricket Australia. We’re also pleased that he will be able to continue in his coaching role with our WBBL squad with the season not far away.”
