Brisbane and the Gold Coast are set to light up the New Year with a host of KFC Big Bash League games scheduled at the heart of summer holidays at the Gabba and Metricon Stadium.

The BBL today released the remainder of its fixtures for BBL|10, with south-east Queensland hosting a total of seven Brisbane Heat games, with five ‘home’ matches as well as two ‘away’ games.

There will also be four neutral games at Metricon Stadium featuring the Melbourne Renegades, Sydney Sixers, Sydney Thunder, Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Stars.

As previously announced, the Heat will host the Adelaide Strikers at the Gabba on 23 December and the Hobart Hurricanes on 27 December as well as being the ‘away’ team on 30 December when they clash with the Hurricanes in the return clash at the Gabba.

Today’s announcement completes the Heat’s season draw. The club will host the Sydney Sixers on Saturday 2 January at the Gabba, followed by the Sydney Thunder on Monday 4 January at the same venue.

The Heat then head down the M1 to play the Melbourne Stars on Thursday 7 January at Metricon Stadium and will then be the ‘away’ team at the same venue on Sunday 10 January against the Sydney Sixers.

The neutral matches at Metricon Stadium include a Boxing Day night clash between the Sixers and Stars, a Tuesday 29 December match featuring the Renegades and Sixers, a New Year’s night match between Renegades and the Thunder on Friday 1 January and a Sunday 3 January game between the Adelaide Strikers and Sixers.

Queensland Cricket CEO Terry Svenson said the line-up of BBL games for Gabba and Metricon Stadium was an excellent outcome for fans.

“The pre and post-Christmas match-ups will give fans ample opportunities to see their heroes in action at two world-class venues in a newly revamped Gabba and Metricon Stadium that we anticipate will be at close to normal operating capacity,’’ he said.

“There is a lot of excitement building around the BBL and with the WBBL Heat team setting their sights on an historic ‘three-peat’ of titles later this week in Sydney, we are looking forward to making our mark in this 10th season of the BBL.”

The revised schedule ensures all KFC BBL clubs will host matches in their local markets subject to the public health situation and associated impacts including border restrictions.

The revised draw was created in consultation with governments, clubs, state and territory associations and broadcast partners and places the health and safety of participants and the broader community as the top priority.

In all, Seven will broadcast 45 matches live including Finals, with Foxtel and Kayo showing all 61 matches live. SEN will also broadcast matches via their radio platforms.

Tickets for all matches being played in December, except those at Adelaide Oval, will go on sale from Friday, November 27. The League is monitoring the situation in South Australia closely and is working with governments to understand its impact on the KFC BBL|10 season.
