Cricket Australia: KFC Big Bash League statement on the status of Jan 2nd matches

Today’s two KFC Big Bash League matches, between the Melbourne Stars and Perth Scorchers at CitiPower Centre and Sydney Thunder, and Adelaide Strikers at Sydney Showground Stadium, will proceed as scheduled

Additional measures will be in place at both matches to protect players, match officials, staff, fans and the wider community.

Updates regarding each match are below.

Melbourne Stars v Perth Scorchers

The League has approved the late addition of six Local Replacement Players to the Melbourne Stars squad for today’s game.

Ten players and eight staff from the Stars remain in isolation after returning positive PCR tests for COVID-19.

Two Scorchers players are in isolation and unavailable to play. One returned a positive PCR test for COVID-19.

Sydney Thunder v Adelaide Strikers

Four Thunder players remain in isolation after returning positive PCR tests for COVID-19.

No positive COVID-19 cases have been detected in the Strikers squad.
