Scotland’s men have two warm-up games in the coming days as they continue their preparations for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.

After a very positive showing at the last T20 World Cup in 2021, Shane Burger’s men are looking forward to testing themselves against the best players from the top countries once again.

The first stage of action begins on October 16 and Scotland will play their Group B opener against the West Indies at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart the following day at 5am UK time.

Also in Group B are Ireland and Zimbabwe and the four teams will battle it out for two places in the second stage.

Namibia, the Netherlands, Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates are in Group A in the first stage and will also be looking to go through to the second stage which begins on October 22.

There is plenty of action to come before that though and in the warm-up games Scotland will be playing the Netherlands at the Junction Oval in Melbourne on Monday October 10 at 5am UK time.

The players will then have the thrill of playing at the world famous MCG in Melbourne on Thursday, October 13 when they will be taking on the UAE at 9am UK time.

Ahead of the two warm-up matches head coach Burger said:  “The guys have been training really well back and home in recent times and have continued that good work out here in Australia.

“Training is great, but nothing beats testing out your skills in a match and, as a result, we are looking forward to the two warm-up games coming up.

“We haven’t played a lot of T20 cricket as a group since last year’s World Cup, but we know what we can do in this format and I have faith that the guys are going to step up to the mark again when the tournament proper gets underway.

“On our minds for now though is the two warm-up games. We always have good clashes with the Netherlands while it will be a great experience for the boys to play at the iconic MCG on Thursday, it is one of the world’s best cricket grounds.”

Scotland squad: Richie Berrington (captain), Matthew Cross (vice-captain), George Munsey, Michael Leask, Brad Wheal, Chris Sole, Chris Greaves, Safyaan Sharif, Josh Davey, Calum MacLeod, Hamza Tahir, Mark Watt, Brandon McMullen, Michael Jones, Craig Wallace.
