The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) convened a Board Members Consultative meeting this afternoon at the ACB Central Office in Kabul. The meeting centered on the 2nd Edition of the Afghanistan Premier League (APLT20) and various aspects related to the event were discussed in detail.

The board members had previously raised the matter during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) earlier this year. At that time, the ACB was requested to provide a comprehensive analysis of the inaugural edition of the league, along with a Business Model and Business Case for the 2nd edition.

Following the AGM, a committee, appointed by the ACB, conducted an in-depth investigation of the various aspects of the inaugural APL edition, and presented a detailed report, along with a comprehensive Business Case and Business Model to the board members, in the meeting today.

The Board Members, after careful evaluation of the proposed plans, approved the Business Case and Model. The Board Members acknowledged the importance of the Afghanistan Premier League in the development of cricket in the country and instructed the ACB to identify a suitable window for conducting the much-awaited 2nd edition of the APL.

In addition to the APL discussions, the board members also requested a comprehensive report on Afghanistan’s matches during the team’s recent tours to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The report will be presented by the ACB following the completion of Afghanistan’s white-ball tour of Bangladesh in July.

The inaugural edition of the Afghanistan Premier League was held back in 2018, but unfortunately, the 2nd edition has been delayed due to certain challenges. The ACB is committed to resuming the league in a more organized and successful manner which will benefit Afghanistan Cricket and all stakeholders involved.
