Interim Scotland Women’s Head Coach Peter Ross is moving on from Cricket Scotland, after taking up a coaching position with Northern Diamonds.

Peter has led the Women’s set-up for more than a year, and has been involved with the international squad for more than eight years in total, but now moves to Yorkshire, joining former Scotland captain Kyle Coetzer in the coaching setup.

Craig Wallace replaces Peter as Interim Women’s Head Coach with immediate effect on a fixed term basis. He begins work at Sunday’s Super Series fixture, and will lead the squad during the forthcoming Tri-Series in the Netherlands and the Regional T20 World Cup Qualifier in Spain in September. Due to the quick transition, Craig will be supported in the coaching set-up by Charlotte Dalton-Howells and Joe Kinghorn-Gray.

Following the Regional Qualifier, it is the intention of Cricket Scotland to begin a recruitment process for a new permanent Women’s Head Coach.

Interim Head of Performance, Toby Bailey, said:

“I would like to thank Peter for his tireless efforts with the Women’s program over the years. He has moved the team onto another level and he will be greatly missed. We look forward to see him go on to achieve big things in the future and we wish him the very the best for his career going forward.

“As a player Craig has won 97 caps for Scotland Men’s team and has vast experience of playing in crucial qualifying competitions. He is an ECB level 3 coach and has studied PE and Sports Studies at University as well as recently completing a masters in Psychology.

“As Head Coach with Forfarshire CC he has won the league, he’s been Caley Highlanders Head Coach in the men’s regional series, as well as assisting with the men’s A Team and Performance Academy on an ad-hoc basis. He is an excellent candidate to take over on an interim basis at this crucial point in the season, as we prepare for September’s Regional Qualifier.”
