Tailenders hosts join Oval Invincibles in third year of The Hundred

Tailenders hosts Greg James and Felix White have been appointed as the new Co-Chairs of Oval Invincibles, The Hundred team based at The Kia Oval.

Greg and Felix, lifelong cricket fans, started Tailenders in 2017 and have since grown their podcast to become of the most listened to loosely-based cricket shows in the world.

Away from Tailenders, Greg is host of the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show, one of the nation’s most popular radio programmes and Felix is a former member of chart-topping band The Maccabees, who now runs Yala! Records, is a member of the band 86TVs and has written critically acclaimed soundtracks for hit sports documentaries The Edge and McEnroe.

Both are also best-selling authors and contribute to a large number of different projects across radio, music, television, sport and entertainment. They also run the Go Well Fund, a charity linked to the podcast that has raised nearly £100,000 for a range of good causes.

They take office with the third-edition of The Hundred now under way. Oval Invincibles play their first home double-header at The Kia Oval against Welsh Fire this Sunday 6 August.

Since their inception in 2021, Invincibles women’s side have established themselves as the dominant team in The Hundred, with Head Coach Jonathan Batty’s side winning in both 2021 and 2022.

As well as the new Co-Chairs, the Oval Invincibles board contains Surrey CCC Chief Executive Steve Elworthy, Kent CCC Chief Executive Simon Storey and former England international and now successful broadcaster Lydia Greenway.

GREG JAMES SAID:

“I had never thought about becoming Co-Chair of Oval Invincibles, but cricket – and The Oval – have been the two biggest love affairs of my life and it’ll be so fun to now be involved with my favourite sport in a new and unexpected way. I’m really looking forward to seeing where this takes us. Felix and I are proud and excited to be the Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElheney of 100-ball cricket in South London…For one month a year…Until they sack us.”

FELIX WHITE ADDED:

“I’ve always loved cricket in a very big, unmovable way. The Oval has been the home for most of the feelings I’ve had towards the game since I was young. From running across the outfield towards Chris Lewis in the late 90s, to bunking school to watch County Championship games in my teens, to escaping unproductive days in the studio there, it’s always been a place of comfort, escape and consolation to me. I thought it was always just going to be something I did for love in my spare time. When I started doing Tailenders with Greg in 2017, I had absolutely no idea where it would lead my life. This is just the latest mad development that I could never have envisioned. It’s going to be a lot of fun and I can’t wait to get started!”
