The North West Dragons unveiled spanking new kit as well as an exciting long-term partnership with the North-West University (NWU) ahead of the upcoming 2023/24 season.

This prosperous new agreement was made official on Thursday, 7 September at the Garden Willows Hotel.

North West Cricket president, Tebogo Motlhabane and North West Cricket CEO, Ismail Minty, presented the NWU vice-chancellor, Prof. Bismark Tyobeka, with a special team shirt to celebrate the occasion.

This comes at the perfect time for North West Cricket as the Dragons head into their third season in Division 1 with new captains and a talented squad hungry for success.

“We want to thank NWU for coming on board this season. The Dragons are a fresh side this season with young blood and a number of experienced players,” stated NW Cricket president, Tebogo Motlhabane.

Prof. Tyobeka stated that it did not take a lot of persuasion to partner with North West Cricket.

“With our brands combined we can take the North West to the next level. We don’t associate ourselves with mediocrity and we believe that this relationship will be a successful and fruitful one. This partnership has room to grow and one of the challenges will be to unearth cricketing talent across the entire province,” he added.

This partnership also presents a fantastic opportunity to invest in North Cricket at various levels from youth up to the senior Dragons level.

“It has been fortunate that our partnership with the NWU is not new, it started many years ago with the HPI and NWU Business School supporting us. This will be a long-term partnership, where we will be able to provide players or school kids to go to university, whilst cricketers from the NWU also has an opportunity to play for the Dragons,” said NW Cricket CEO, Ismail Minty.

The NW Dragons begin their season with the CSA One Day Cup on Saturday, 16 September with a home fixture against Western Province at the J.B. Marks Oval from 13:00.
