Mutual society giant AVBOB has extended its relationship with Titans Cricket and SuperSport Park for another two years.

The partnership, which first came to being in 2020 when AVBOB assisted with the building of the memorial wall at SuperSport Park, a first ever at a South African sports stadium. This wall offers to individuals, an opportunity to honour a friend or family member by engraving their name on the memorial wall.

The extension of the relationship will see AVBOB taking over the naming rights of the Diversity Suite, now AVBOB Diversity Suite.

AVBOB will also host the first annual unity dinner, which will be aimed at celebrating unity within the South African cricketing landscape and Titans Cricket while honouring long serving staff at the union as well as life members and honorary life members.

The newly launched library services at SuperSport Park will also be supported by AVBOB.

“AVBOB decided to invest in the unity dinner and the Diversity Suite as it is aligned to our ethos and values,” says Pieter van der Westhuizen, General Manager: Funeral Service at AVBOB. “We believe that sport has the power to unite our fragmented communities and that the strength of our nation lies in its diversity. Therefore, it was an easy decision to partner with a brand such as the Titans who share these values.”

AVBOB turned 105 years old in August 2023. The AVBOB Group comprises AVBOB Mutual Assurance Society, which provides insurance products, and two subsidiaries – AVBOB Funeral Service, which is providing funeral services and AVBOB Industries, which manufactures our coffins and funeralware. Our mutual status drives our ethos, purpose, and competitive differentiation – It is the core of our existence!

“The Titans has been a successful and a well-known brand, like AVBOB, which has been serving South Africans for more than a century. We are proud to be associated with the Titans,” added van der Westhuizen.

Titans and SuperSport Park CEO, Dr Jacques Faul shared his insights on the news of the partnership renewal – “The backing that we get from AVBOB is immense. AVBOB has contributed a lot in making the stadium an iconic place and has pledged to continue to do so. It is always great to have a partner that goes above and beyond for you.”

“Their mutual responsibility and care spreads far wider than their policyholders and members – it includes all stakeholders and in particular, communities in which they operate. They invest a lot in communities around South Africa and we are fortunate that they selected us as a destination for them to connect with South Africans,” Faul concluded.
