Leg spinner Ruwantha Kellapotha has re-signed with the Melbourne Renegades for the KFC BBL|13.

The 32-year-old earned another contract following his impressive debut in the competition last season, where the Sri Lankan-born talent took three wickets from his two matches.

He caught the eye of the Melbourne Renegades following consistent performances for Casey-South Melbourne in Premier Cricket as well as for the Renegades Academy in the lead up to BBL|12.

These efforts were ultimately rewarded with a contract on the primary list as an overseas replacement player last season. This year he’ll represent the club as a local player.

Melbourne Renegades General Manager, James Rosengarten said:

“We were ultra impressed with Ruwantha’s debut season, he showed he can match it with the best in the BBL, so we’re really excited to have Ruwantha extend his time with the squad,” Mr. Rosengarten said.

“We’re confident he can take his game to the next level in BBL|13 and can’t wait to see him impact for us during the tournament.”

Paceman Tom Rogers has also extended his contract for one more season, the Tassie quick will head into his second consecutive season with the Renegades.

Rogers played all 15 matches last season, finishing fourth in the league for most wickets taken with 23, earning himself selection into the BBL|12 Team of the Tournament alongside teammate Aaron Finch.

Rogers’ form also earned him selection in the Australia A One-Day Squad in September.

The Renegades have one remining list spot still to confirm for BBL|13.

BBL|13 Squad (so far): Nic Maddinson (C), Aaron Finch, Adam Zampa, Nathan Lyon, Quinton De Kock, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Harry Dixon, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Mackenzie Harvey, Ruwantha Kellapotha, Shaun Marsh, Kane Richardson, Tom Rogers, Will Sutherland, Jon Wells, Joe Clarke, Peter Siddle
