Left-arm quick, Daniel Sams has extended his contract with Sydney Thunder until KFC BBL|15, taking him to eight years with the club.

With 100 BBL wickets to his name and 732 runs, Sams has been a core part of the group since 2018.

After a brief stint with Sydney Sixers at the start of his BBL career, Sams moved over to the green side of Sydney after one season and hasn’t looked back.

The bowler has played a vital role in countless games over the years earning player of the match no less than four times.

In the side for his abilities with the ball, Sams is often called upon with the bat too and has hit more sixes than fours in his BBL career.

Sydney Thunder fast bowler, Daniel Sams, said: “I’ve been with Thunder a long time now, it’s home for me in the BBL so I’m pumped to be locked in for the next couple of years.

“One of my favourite things about this team is that we fight until the last ball is bowled. We get around each other in the highs and the lows, it’s what makes coming back each year so special.

“But by far the best thing is the fans. The Thunder Nation are so loud and so passionate, there’s not a community out there like them. I feel such pride every time I pull on the lime green and black jersey and represent the club.”

Sams, who has played ten T20I’s for Australia, is the ninth highest wicket taker in the competition’s history, a valuable player that Head of Sydney Thunder, Andrew Gilchrist, is happy to have cemented in.

Gilchrist said: “Samsy [Daniel Sams] is a fantastic asset to Thunder, both on and off the field. He brings the team together, is class with bat and ball in hand, we’re really happy to have extended his contract until BBL|15.

“His impact on the team over the years cannot be understated, it’s been a pleasure to watch him rise up in the ranks and take on a more senior role. I can’t wait to see what he can do this year and looking ahead.”
