South Australian umpire Andrew Crozier has achieved his third major milestone this season by making his First-Class umpiring debut on Saturday, having been appointed on field in the Sheffield Shield match between Queensland and Tasmania at the Gabba.

Having already made his List-A debut this season in the One Day Cup, as well as making his BBL debut on Adelaide Oval, it has already been a big season of firsts for ‘Drew’.

Drew’s umpiring journey began a decade ago in the nation’s capital when he first officiated in ACT’s Premier Cricket Competition in 2013-14.

Drew made his First-Grade debut during that season and was soon appointed to Cricket Australia competition matches.

Drew’s pathway to elite level umpiring saw him officiate in the Cricket Australia Under 17 and Under 19 Male National Championships, standing in tournament Finals along the way.
In addition, Drew stood in Cricket Australia’s professional competitions including the WBBL, WNCL and Toyota Second XI.

During the 2016-17 season, Drew expanded his Premier Cricket experience by standing regularly for the first time in the New South Wales’s Premier Cricket competition.

That same season, Drew got a taste for representative cricket at the highest level when he was appointed on-field to the Prime Minister’s XI Tour Match featuring the touring Sri Lankan side at Manuka Oval in Canberra.

Last season, Drew was appointed on-field to the WNCL Final between Tasmania and South Australia at Blundstone Arena in Hobart, a rare achievement by an umpire outside of the National or Supplementary Umpire Panels.

Prior to the 2023-24 season, Drew was elevated by Cricket Australia to the Supplementary Umpire Panel for the first time.

Drew continued to represent umpiring in the ACT until recently, when he moved to Adelaide for work. Drew is now a regular fixture in the SACA’s Premier Cricket Competition.

After a busy representative season travelling to most states and territories to officiate in the WBBL, Second XI, BBL and Marsh One Day Cup competitions, this latest debut is another reward for Drew.

SACA congratulates Drew on his latest achievement!
