The Melbourne Renegades Champions League Team of the Tournament has been announced for 2021-22.

A team of 11 players, plus a 12th man, has been named following the completion of this year’s tournament – presented by Truck Assist.

Championship-winning Sri Lanka captain Ejaaz Alavi leads the side, which features three of his Sri Lanka teammates –player of the tournament Andy Solomons, former international spinner Suraj Randiv and Arosh Janoda (12th man).

Solomons was the tournament’s leading run scorer, with 181 runs at an average of 60.33 from five matches – including a top score of 115*.

With 11 wickets, Randiv was the tournament’s leading wicket-taker – playing five games and collecting best figures of 5-6.

Runners up, India, have three representatives in the team of the tournament, as do Pakistan – including vice-captain Humza Ali.

Ali was the tournament’s second-highest run-scorer, with Haseeb Qureshi (Pakistan) and Akshay Kodoth (India) rounding out the top four run scorers and both earning selection in the team of the tournament.

Afghanistan are represented by two players, while non-finalists Bangladesh and Nepal don’t feature in the side.

Sri Lanka coach Keith Jansz was named the coach of the tournament.

The Melbourne Renegades Champions League is a competition that aims to increase the number of South Asian cricketers who progress from recreational cricket to professional cricket in Australia and to showcase the talented South Asian players and match officials living in Victoria.

This was the sixth edition of the tournament, with the 2021-22 competition proudly supported by Truck Assist.
