RCB launches ‘RCB Cares’ as Andy Flower, Mo Bobat, and Dinesh Karthik share emotional tributes after June 4 tragedy

The tragic events of June 4 have left an indelible mark on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) community. What was meant to be a night of celebration became one of heartbreak, as lives were lost in a devastating incident that has deeply impacted the franchise and its fans.

In response, RCB has launched a new initiative titled ‘RCB Cares’ — a program dedicated to supporting, empowering, and uplifting the RCB fan community in the wake of the tragedy. The initiative aims to bring the RCB family closer, fostering compassion and unity during an incredibly difficult time.

RCB leaders express their grief and support

RCB’s leadership group — Director of Cricket Mo Bobat, Head Coach Andy Flower, and Mentor and Batting Coach Dinesh Karthik — shared heartfelt messages with fans, expressing their sorrow and solidarity.

Mo Bobat: “We must pull together even tighter”

Mo Bobat reflected on the loss, saying:

“The loss of lives is incredibly sad. We’re gutted. Our deepest condolences go out to all of the people affected. If there’s one thing this franchise has done over the years, it’s pull together, through good times and bad. We must pull together even tighter now and show care for our fellow RCBians. The tragedy is a painful chapter carved into the walls of our story, and our identity. We will remember forever.”

Andy Flower: “No trophy is worth the lives we lost”

Andy Flower, speaking with visible emotion, said:

“Sport has a way of uniting us, bringing pure, unfiltered joy into our lives. But on June 4th, that joy turned into heartbreak. What was meant to be a night of celebration became a moment of unimaginable pain. No trophy, no triumph, is worth the lives we lost. To the families grieving—we see you, we mourn with you. We carry your love, your spirit, and your memory with us.”

Dinesh Karthik: “I ask all our fans to join us in showing care”

Dinesh Karthik, a veteran presence in the RCB setup, added:

“My heartfelt condolences go out to all of the families who lost loved ones on 4th June. I can’t begin to imagine what you must have gone through. I pray and hope that God gives you the strength to come through this and I ask all of our fans to join us in showing care and togetherness through this difficult time.”

RCB Cares: A step forward through unity and compassion

The ‘RCB Cares’ initiative is expected to include ongoing support programs, mental health resources, and outreach efforts for those affected. As the franchise moves forward, the spirit of care and togetherness will guide its every action.

In moments of tragedy, sport often reveals its true power — not just to entertain, but to heal, unite, and uplift. RCB’s response exemplifies the strength of its community and leadership, as it turns pain into purpose.
