Cricket Scotland Chair Wilf Walsh met with senior ICC leaders in Switzerland earlier this week for a series of constructive discussions about the future of the game.
Wilf caught up with ICC Chair Jay Shah and new ICC Chief Executive Sanjog Gupta who were attending the Sport Accord Conference in Lausanne as well as meeting IOC delegates.
The conversations covered a range of key topics — from future funding for Associate Members and Cricket Scotland’s role in GB Cricket ahead of the 2028 Olympic Games, to the opportunities of co-hosting the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2030 and the need to develop at the club and community level.
Reflecting on the meetings, Wilf said:
“It was a pleasure to meet Jay Shah and Sanjog Gupta, and we really value our relationship with the ICC and are proud to play our part as a trusted partner in hosting tournaments as one of the High Performing Associate Members in men’s and women’s cricket.
“At the same time, I was candid about the funding challenges we face and the vital role the ICC can play in supporting us. I look forward to continuing those conversations and we have extended an open invitation to Jay and Sanjog to visit Scotland in 2026.”
