Cricket Scotland is proud to this week host the ICC Females in Leadership Summit, in partnership with ICC Europe.
Across three days in Glasgow, coinciding with the start of Scottish Women and Girls in Sport Week, female delegates from Scotland, England, Ireland, Luxembourg, Belgium, Jersey and Finland have heard from keynote speakers and participated in a series of workshops, centred around a top-line theme of Transferable Skills and Knowledge.
The conference has coincided with Women and Girls in Sport Week, and began on Sunday with a Wee Bash at Hutchesons Grammar School, followed by a Women in Scottish Cricket celebration evening at Clydesdale Cricket Club.
On Monday a series of workshops were hosted by ICC Europe, while on Tuesday the delegates have been hearing from Maree Todd MSP, Minister for Drugs & Alcohol Policy and Sport. She praised ICC Europe and Cricket Scotland for their role in promoting female leadership in cricket, and discussed the importance of adaptability and resilience in leadership and career choices.
Nic Wilson, Cricket Scotland’s Head of Growth and Partnerships, said:
“It’s always great to connect with other female leaders from across Europe, as we all face different challenges, but also share many common day-to-day obstacles at the same time. The discussions across the last two days have focused on general leadership within our sport, and there’ve been many good thoughts around the challenges female leaders face in cricket.
“It was fantastic to have Maree Todd MSP join us on Tuesday, and hear her experiences from her own leadership journey and career path into politics. She also displayed some terrific personal interaction and openness with the delegates which I know everyone really valued.
“Female leaders are still in the minority within cricket, so it’s always essential to share experiences and work together to promote good practice. This has been a hugely beneficial few days, and I’d like to thank ICC Europe for their support in hosting this conference.”
