The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has suspended the registration of Mugees Ahmad Sheikh, a player agent representing Pakistani cricketers and officials, after he was found guilty of four violations of the ECB‘s Anti-Corruption Code. Sheikh, who heads the International Cricketers Association (ICA), was investigated by the cricket regulator, and following a hearing at an independent anti-corruption tribunal, he was found to have committed multiple breaches. The tribunal will announce its final decision on the suspension in due course.
The ICA currently represents over 80% of centrally contracted Pakistani cricketers, along with several former stars. Of the 25 players with central contracts, 20 are affiliated with ICA, including prominent names such as Aamer Jamal, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Abdullah Shafique, Naseem Shah, Shadab Khan, Saim Ayub, and Tayyab Tahir. Other players linked to the agency include Imam ul Haq, Mohammad Haris, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Usama Mir, and Abdul Samad. Several former cricketers, including Aaqib Javed, Mohammad Hafeez, Wahab Riaz, Misbah ul Haq, and Saeed Ajmal, are also represented by ICA.
In the past, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sought to limit the influence of the SAYA Corporation, which once dominated player representation in the country. However, ICA has since taken over as the leading agency managing Pakistan’s top cricketers and officials.
Following the ECB’s decision, Sheikh’s registration as a player agent has been suspended. When contacted for comment by an Express news correspondent, Sheikh did not respond.
