In a historic development for Bihar cricket, 24-year-old Harsh Vardhan has been elected unopposed as the youngest-ever President of the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA). The results of the 2025 BCA office-bearer elections, announced on Sunday, mark a generational shift and signal a new chapter of leadership focused on grassroots growth and modern administration.
“Being the youngest President of the Bihar Cricket Association comes with both pride and a sense of duty,” Harsh Vardhan said. “Together with my team, we will work tirelessly to take Bihar cricket to the next level.”
Full leadership team elected unopposed
The BCA elections, conducted under the supervision of retired IAS officer M. Modassir, resulted in a complete slate of candidates being elected unopposed, reflecting internal consensus and unified direction.
- Harsh Vardhan – President
- Priya Kumari – Vice President
- Ziaul Arefin – Secretary
- Abhishek Nandan – Treasurer
- Rohit Kumar – Joint Secretary
Additional appointments:
- Rajesh Kumar – Member, Committee of Management (District Representative)
- Gyaneshwar Gautam – Member, Governing Council
BCA outlines grassroots and infrastructure priorities
Following the results, the BCA released a statement emphasizing grassroots development, infrastructure expansion, and talent identification as key priorities for the coming term.
“Our collective priority will be to strengthen cricket at the grassroots level, build robust infrastructure, and create more opportunities for young cricketers across Bihar,” the statement said.
The leadership change is expected to bring fresh energy and a renewed focus on nurturing local talent, especially from districts often overlooked in national cricketing structures.
Selection trials and training camps kick off immediately
Signaling an intent to move quickly, the new administration announced that selection trials and training camps for Bihar’s Men’s Senior and U-23 teams will begin on Tuesday, September 30 at Moin-ul-Haq Stadium in Patna. Players have been instructed to report by 4:00 PM on September 29.
Additionally, the BCA recently held a physiotherapy and injury management training session as part of its broader focus on athlete performance, fitness, and recovery — setting the tone for a more professional approach to player development.
Youthful leadership aims to transform Bihar cricket
Harsh Vardhan’s ascent to the presidency is more than symbolic — it represents a shift in how cricket in Bihar is administered, promoted, and developed. His leadership, backed by a unified and motivated team, aims to elevate Bihar’s cricketing ecosystem through structured programs, transparent governance, and a strong emphasis on district-level engagement.
As one of India’s historically underrepresented regions in mainstream cricket, Bihar now appears poised to reclaim relevance and push for greater visibility and success on the national stage. With bold leadership and grassroots priorities in place, the BCA has laid the foundation for sustained progress.
