Seven iconic cricketers will be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame on Monday, 9 June, at a grand ceremony in London — marking one of the most significant inductions since the Hall of Fame was launched in 2009.

The event, titled ‘A Day with the Legends’, will be broadcast live by ICC’s global broadcast partners, giving fans around the world a chance to witness the induction of five male and two female players from six countries. These players were selected by a panel of ICC Hall of Famers, senior executives, and media members, and will be honoured with commemorative caps for their historic contributions to cricket.

The event begins at 16h30 BST and serves as a curtain-raiser to the highly anticipated ICC World Test Championship Final between South Africa and Australia, which will be played at Lord’s Cricket Ground from 11–15 June.

Captains Temba Bavuma (South Africa) and Pat Cummins (Australia) will also participate in the ceremony, sharing their insights and thoughts ahead of the WTC Final.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah remarked, “Inducting legends into the ICC Hall of Fame is our way of honouring the game’s most extraordinary contributors. This accolade is reserved exclusively for those whose achievements have left an indelible mark on the sport.”

About the ICC Hall of Fame

The ICC Hall of Fame was established in 2009 in collaboration with the World Cricketers Association (then known as FICA) to honour the game’s most influential players. The inaugural class included 55 inductees from the FICA Hall of Fame, with annual additions continuing since then.

To be eligible, players must be retired for at least five years. The most recent inductees, honoured in October 2024, included England’s Alastair Cook, South Africa’s AB de Villiers, and India’s Neetu David.

As cricket’s legends prepare to take center stage once again in London, fans worldwide are invited to celebrate the game’s history — and get ready for the WTC Final that follows.
