Job Role: Head of Strength and Conditioning
Reports to: Head of Sports Science / Lead Physiotherapist
Job Purpose: The Head of Strength and Conditioning is responsible for leading the
design, delivery and evaluation of physical preparation across the professional men’s squad, Academy, player pathway and Tier 2 women. Working as part of an multidisciplinary science and medicine team, the postholder will create an evidence-informed, player-centred programme that supports performance, physical preparation, athletic development, injury prevention, and return-to-performance practices.
Weekly hours: A total of 35 hours per week, with flexibility over specific days worked and an emphasis on matchdays during the cricket season.
Location: Uptonsteel Grace Road, Leicester, LE2 8AD but as and where
required.
Salary: Competitive

Main Duties:

1. Lead, plan, deliver and evaluate the Club’s strength and conditioning provision for professional players, Academy players, Tier 2 Women’s and identified pathway squads.
2. Work closely with the Head of Sport Science and Medicine, Professional, Academy and Women Coaching staff to develop and deliver integrated support programmes meeting the performance and development needs of Leicestershire County Cricket Club.
3. Plan and lead regular screening, monitoring and testing across pre-season and in-season periods, aligned to Club and ECB expectations and relevant physical benchmarks for professional cricketers.
4. Deliver effective warm-ups, recovery strategies and load management support on training and matchdays, contributing to the Club’s injury prevention and player availability objectives.
5. Maintain accurate records of testing, screening, monitoring and programme delivery, ensuring relevant information is shared appropriately with players, coaches and the Science and Medicine team.
6. Provide matchday and/or training support across First XI, Second XI and Womens cricket as required, positively influencing the physical development and professional habits of all players.
7. Use appropriate athlete management systems and monitoring tools to track workloads, wellbeing, training progression and physical development across squads.
8. Work closely with the Physiotherapist and wider Science and Medicine team to support
rehabilitation, return-to-train and return-to-play processes for injured players.
9. Contribute to annual performance, S&C and Science and Medicine objectives, including agreed actions arising from relevant ECB audits, reviews or best-practice guidance.
10. Manage the Club’s gym and physical preparation facilities, ensuring equipment is safe, well maintained, fit for purpose and compliant with relevant health, safety and ECB requirements.
11. Lead, support and develop S&C staff, interns or placement students as required, ensuring high standards of delivery across the professional, Academy, Women and pathway environments.
12. Undertake appropriate continuing professional development and keep up to date with current best practice in strength and conditioning, cricket performance and athlete development.
13. Represent LCCC professionally at all times and support Club events, media, marketing and community activity where required.
14. Carry out any other duties appropriate to the position of Head of Strength and Conditioning as reasonably required.

Person Specification:
Qualifications:
Essential:
• UKSCA accreditation
• BSc Hons in Sport and Exercise Science or related discipline
• Minimum 3 Years experience delivering Full-Time S&C support within an elite or high-performance sport environment with an understanding of cricket specific physical
demands.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary performance teams
• Experience of preparing, monitoring and developing elite or developing elite athletes,
including injury prevention and rehabilitation support.
• Experience delivering individual and group strength and conditioning sessions
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to
build strong relationships with players, coaches and support staff.
• Knowledge of advanced athlete management systems and data visualisation
platforms
• Full UK driving licence, or access to transport to meet the requirements of the role.
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and relevant athlete management, monitoring or performance analysis systems.
• Current professional indemnity insurance cover, where required.

Desirable:
• MSc in Strength and Conditioning or related area
• Current basic life support training, or willingness to complete required training within
an agreed timeframe.
• Research, innovation or applied practice experience in strength and conditioning,
athlete monitoring, injury prevention or rehabilitation.
• Experience preparing and delivering CPD workshops, staff development sessions or
conference presentations.
• ISAK accreditation
• Previous experience with data monitoring tools such as GPS units and VALD
systems
